The Dell XPS 15 and its Specifications

Dell XPS 15, we have a laptop that is efficient to recommend to anyone, regardless of how light or heavy your workload is.

Every element of this laptop merges into the shape of what a computer should be in 2020:

  1. A beautiful screen
  2. A remarkably comfortable keyboard
  3. Speakers that feature listenable audio
  4. A touchpad that’s large enough to be comfortable during extended periods
  • And, starting at $ 1,299 (about AU $ 1,890, £ 1,030) with a competent 10th Gen Intel Core i5 Comet Lake processor, 256GB SSD, and 8GB of RAM.
  • It offers an alternative that is much more affordable to the 16-inch Mac Book Pro.
  • Inches start at $ 2,399, albeit with a more powerful Core i7 processor and 16GB of RAM.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

  • The 2020 Dell XPS 15 is available now, starting at $ 1,299 (about £ 1,030, AU $ 1,890) in the US.
  • For that price, you will have a 10th Gen Intel Core i5 processor, a 256GB SSD, and 8GB RAM, all behind a 1080p non-touch screen.
  • However, the initial setup changes depending on where you live.
  • For example, in the UK, you can also find the Dell XPS 15 starting at £ 1,599, where the main difference is a doubling of the SSD space of up to 512GB.
  • But the XPS 15 starts at AU $ 3,698 in Australia, getting a Core i7-10750H, 512GB SSD, 16GB of RAM.
  • And a discrete Nvidia Ge-Force GTX 1650 Ti GPU, something that is lacking in entry-level models in the US and UK.
  • Of course, the final story does not end with the entry-level models.
  • Also, you can pack the XPS 15 with a ton of hardware, although the model we review on the right isn’t reasonably available.
  • A Dell XPS 15 comes with the Core i7-10875H is limited to the 10750H.
  • The difference between these two efficient processors is minimal at best, but still something to consider.

DESIGN

  • In terms of year-over-year laptop improvements, we’ve never seen a shine like the 2020 Dell XPS 15.
  • It’s lighter, has smaller bezels, thinner, and brings the speakers to the top of the device.
  • The XPS 15 has catapulted itself ahead of the 13-inch model to be the Windows laptop to get with improvements.
  • Now we get it; not all of us want to carry around a bulky 15-inch laptop, no matter what kinds of performance improvements come with the more robust hardware.
  • However, the new XPS 15 is just 0.71 inches (18mm) thick and weighs just 4.5lbs (2.05kg).
  • It’s not the light-weight laptop in the world, but with this kind of hardware and a battery that lasts very long as it does, it’s more portable than it should be.

PERFORMANCE

  • Equipped with an Intel Core i7-10875H and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, the Dell XPS 15 falls into what we would call the “prosumer” market.
  • It’s not that powerful that professional video editors or 3D artists will jump in on it.
  • Still, it’s powerful for anyone who does those things as a hobby or doesn’t want to be slowed down by any computing tasks they might run inside.
  • And while the GTX 1650 Ti is technically an efficient gaming GPU, the Dell XPS 15 is not a gaming laptop.
  • And the thin and light chassis design doesn’t extend to extended gaming sessions where heat could cause performance issues.

BATTERY DURATION

  • The Dell XPS 15 that we review here comes with an 86 Wh battery, which is sturdy for a laptop that is so thin.
  • For the most part, the battery life reflects this, as the device gets 9 hours and 44 minutes of long-lasting battery life in the PC-Mark ten battery life test.
